Despite the very short time of preparation, National Union of Journalists of the Philippines (NUJP)– Bulacan Chapter together with Radyo Bulacan had successfully conducted a seminar about Disaster Reporting to Journalism students and media practitioners.
Students and media people, together with legislators of Balitang Malolos and some social media users, gathered at Hiyas ng Bulakan Convention Center, Capitol Compound, Malolos City on July 14, 2014.
During the seminar themed “(Dis)Covering Disasters”, speakers, namely Ms. Felizisima Mungcal, DRMM chief, Mr. Julius Vidad, an attorney and a member of Balitang Malolos, and Mr. Dino Balabo, Chair of NUJP-Bulacan, give their educational messages to the delegates.
Mr. Dino Balabo, also one of the men responsible for the event, admitted the rush they experienced in the preparation for it.
“Meron lamang kaming panandaliang paghahanda.”, said Balabo.
He stated how they really want this seminar to be pushed and how it will be a big help for more effective information dissemination.
“Ang inaasahan dito ay higit na mapataas yung antas ng kaalaman at ma-encourage ang bawat isa na lumahok ‘doon sa pagbabahagi ng information, ang crucial kasi sa disaster ay yung information.”, Balabo added.
